ARES

Greek mythology had a variety of major gods. One of them is Ares, who was known as the roman god of war.

Ares was the son of Zeus and Hera. He had cruel and war-like nature so none of the gods liked him, even his own father disliked him. He was the brother of Hebe, Eilethiila, and possibly of Hephaestus. Ares had a half sister who was Athena, the goddess of wisdom and skill. Even though he was god of war Athena seemed to be a better fighter. Ares was not a great fighter.
He lost to Hercules twice. And lost to Diomedes who was the hero in the Trojan War. Both Hercules and Diomedes seriously wounded the god of war. When Ares was wounded by Diomedes his scream was louder then many men shouting. Ares secret mate was Aphrodite. Who was the goddess of love. Ares is the father of the harmonia. Who was the goddess of harmony. And of the Amazons, hippolyte and penthesilea.
Ares favorite animals were the dog and the vulture. Ares had a chariot pulled by his horse’s aithon, conabos, phlogios, Phobos. Why this is important for people to know about this is because Ares is on of the major gods and he is very important. my sources were Article "Ares" created on 03 March 1997; last modified on 3 December 2005 (Revision 3). 292 words. http://www.pantheon.org/articles/a/ares.html. my next resourse was Maintained by Laurel Bowman: lbowman@uvic.ca.
